New London County Boxes

From: (egd1125@aol.com) | Date: 2001-07-05 22:15:41 UTC-04:00
We are finally going to get to visit the "Mecca" of letterboxes next week.
With 90 + letterboxes in New London County, CT, one would think it would be
the most letterbox saturated County in New England. We have decided to
"vacation" in the area and have listed boxes that we would like to visit. If
anyone knows of any of these boxes that may be out of commission, please let
us know.

Green Falls Pond - 5 boxes
Metamorphosis - 3 + Drew Clan 3
Parallel Play - 2 boxes
Haley Farm - 2 + Canopy Rock
Celestial Motion - 3 boxes
Benedict Arnold Letterboxes - 2
Gray Rock - 2 boxes
Fowler-Grindstone Letterboxes - 3

Actually, any information as to the condition of these boxes will be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, all the boxes are still there, most are fairly new. If
you have the time you should add Mountain Laurel Alley to the Green Falls
Hike, its only an extra mile or two on the same trail. I will be at Green
Falls with my campers on Wednesday, so maybe I'll see you there. Good luck
& have fun.

Melissa

If there is than it would have to be the one outside
of the one that I am sitting in right now in
Connecticut!

Good boxes to you!

Hey, Elmer! You and the kids should have a great time down here:
we're busily planning a trip your way to try some of your new boxes
as well. We've hit all the spots you mention over the last couple of
months and they were all alive and well. If I was to suggest an
addition to your already ambitious list, how about Elaine & Jerry's
Bluff? It's the "most visited" letterbox in the land, after all. I
think all of the classic EMS boxes are worth a visit. They're at:

Have a great time!

My husband and I visited the Celestial Motion boxes just recently and
they are all there. We were a bit confused about the entrance to the trail
there as the parking is at what seems to be an old road that we took for the
trail, but actually if you park head-in, the trailhead is off to your right.
Have a great vacation! Ann T.
